“There is no doubt in my mind that I am the smart choice when it comes time to sell your home.”
Hello. I’m John Carlson and I’m proud to be providing what I believe is the best solution to the needs of home buyers and sellers in our marketplace!
I’m a family man, very happily married for 24 years to my wife, Kimiko. We have two awesome and much-loved sons, living together in Maple Ridge for the past 20 years. As anyone with a family might guess, our personal time not working is usually spent together and with our sons’ school and social events. We are members of our local Burnet Fellowship Church and our friends know we love to entertain at our home. I’ve been a music lover since I was a kid and although I can’t play a note on any instrument, I collect and appreciate all kinds of good music- Jazz, Blues, 50’s – 90’s Rock and Pop, and especially live recordings of my favourite artists. I’m also a small time collector and big time fan of classic cars, especially Canadian Pontiacs and full-size Chevrolets of the 1960’s.
I have to admit to being lucky. I was born in Vancouver in 1968, and my family moved to Maple Ridge soon afterward. I went to Maple Ridge and Yennadon elementary schools before attending Maple Ridge Secondary, where I graduated in 1986. I think it is fair to say that I was obsessed with basketball and earning a college scholarship. Our MRSS Ramblers won the provincial championship in 1986, and I was awarded first team all-star and outstanding player of the championship game. I was also recognized as a student athlete and was invited to attend with about 300 other local guests a dinner with Prince Charles and Lady Diana during their 1986 visit to Vancouver.
After high school I attended UBC and played for the Thunderbird’s men’s varsity team 1986/87 before accepting scholarships to North Idaho College 1988-89 and Regis University in Denver 1990-91, where I finished my basketball career while also achieving a spot on the Academic Dean’s list, majoring in business administration.
After University, and a few years working in the hardwood flooring industry, I decided to follow my dream of becoming a Real Estate Agent, and earned my license in 1996. I learned the business at local Royal LePage and Remax offices, going through their training programs there, and became successful, earning multiple Medallion Club (Top 10%) awards and building a strong clientele during my 13 years in what you might call the “traditional real estate business model.”
